Opaque and Transparent Networking
نویسنده
چکیده
3 results of this exercise tend to indicate that core mesh networks will remain opaque for some time. This column then explores the potential opportunity for cost reduction and scalability by introducing transparent switches in opaque networks. However, several challenges, both in technology and in network architecture, will have to be addressed before one can achieve the potential benefits of transparent switches.

Network Working Group Requirements for Adding Optical Support to the General Switch Management Protocol Version 3 (gsmpv3)
This document details the changes to GSMP necessary for the support of optical (non-transparent and all optical), SONET/SDH, and spatial switching of IP packets, Layer 2 (L2) frames and TDM data. When implemented, GSMP controllers will then be able to control: photonic cross-connects (optical-optical), transparent optical cross connects (optical-electrical-optical, frame independent), opaque cr...
متن کاملOptimal Monitoring Equipment Placement for Fault and Attack Location in Transparent Optical Networks
Last decade, network security has become a very sensitive and important topic for equipment manufacturers and network operators. Physical layer security in opaque optical networks relies on the information obtained at the opaque nodes where the signal is electronically regenerated. However, in transparent optical networks, security is even more complex since the optical signals are not regenera...
متن کاملResistance Properties of Printed Polyolefin Films using Water-Based Inks
During recent decades due to the increase in pollutants release from various industries, reduction or elimination of volatile organic compounds VOCs has become one of the main purposes of researches in order to protect the environment. In this research, two acrylic emulsion resins and an adhesion promoter polyester emulsion resin were used to optimize water-based printing ink formulation for pr...
متن کاملA Fast Rendering Technique of Transparent Objects and Caustics
Rendering refractive caustics from transparent objects on opaque objects is computationally intensive. This paper presents a fast rendering technique for transparent objects and refractive caustics due to transparent objects on the opaque object. To calculate the intensities of caustics, we set virtual planes around the opaque object and store the intensities of caustics on the virtual planes a...
متن کاملThe role of semantic transparency in the processing of English compound words.
Experiment 1 examined whether the semantic transparency of an English unspaced compound word affected how long it took to process it in reading. Three types of opaque words were each compared with a matched set of transparent words (i.e. matched on the length and frequency of the constituents and the frequency of the word as a whole). Two sets of the opaque words were partially opaque: either t...
